25 Bible Verses for Women of Every Season
Maybe you came here looking for a verse to write in a friend’s birthday card or tape to your bathroom mirror.
By Daniel Reeves · Editor, The Bible Well
Maybe you came here looking for a verse to write in a friend’s birthday card or tape to your bathroom mirror. Maybe you came because you are tired, and you need to know God still sees you. These verses are for both. They begin with who you are to God, made in his image and known by name. Then they walk with you through fear, worry, and the need for wisdom. Along the way you will meet women who carried real burdens and found God faithful: Hagar in the desert, Hannah at the house of the Lord, Ruth in a stranger’s field, Esther at the palace door, and Mary Magdalene at the empty tomb. Read them slowly. Pick one to carry with you this week. And let the God who saw each of them see you too.

01
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27
On the very first page of the Bible, God makes woman in his own image as part of his first good work. Before anyone told you what you are worth, God had already written it here.

02
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

05
Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

1 Peter 3:3-4
06
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
1 Peter 3:3-4
Peter writes to women in the early church who were tempted to measure themselves by what others could see. He points you to a beauty that does not fade with age or trends, a spirit God himself calls precious.

07
God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
Psalm 46:5
The her in this verse is the city of God, the place where he makes his home among his people, so it is a promise for everyone who belongs to him. Many women have prayed it over their own lives, because the God who held that city steady will not let you fall either.

08
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Philippians 4:13
10
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
Paul does not tell you to stop feeling anxious by trying harder. He invites you to turn every worry into a prayer, and he promises a peace that will stand guard over your heart like a soldier at the gate.
1 Peter 5:7
12
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

13
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
